Mr. Alejandro Santelises, Executive Vice President of Personal Banking and Branch Offices, traced the importance of the community’s economic growth as well as our ongoing commitment in servicing the people in the area.
Mr. Santelises added that “the local economic agents, micro-entrepreneurs and the public in general, have also contributed to the growth of this community" and that "most of our banking products and services are fit to this specific audience”.
When referring to the economic development of Villa Mella, Mr. Santelises indicated that there are numerous small businesses directed towards the automobile and food industries, pharmacies and supermarkets which service more than a million individuals to which Banco Popular aims to offer a customized service, following the lines of the institution's 2003-2005 Strategic Plan.
Likewise, Mr. Miguel Ángel Llenas, Vice President of the Northern Metro Personal Banking Area, responsible for this new branch office, executed a business presentation offering details on products and services offered by the bank.
During the inauguration, recognitions were given to Enerolisa Núñez and to Sixto Minier. Enerolisa Núñez, resident of the area and interpreter of “salves" and "congas”, was the singer who made the original recording of “Ogún Balenyó”, a song later popularized by Kinito Méndez, a celebrated national interpreter. On the other hand, Sixto Minier is president of the Brotherhood of the Congas of the Saint Spirit, headquartered in Villa Mella, whose cultural work was recognized by UNESCO as cultural patrimony of humanity.
The new branch office, located on Hermanas Mirabal Avenue No. 28, counts with an experienced team of sales and customer service personnel under the responsibility of the Business Manager, Leonte Brea. Its operating hours are from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. In addition, this new location counts with an automated teller machine with operating service of 24 hours 7 days a week.
Juan Francisco de la Cruz, the priest who services the parish of Santa Cruz, gave his blessing to the new location. Father Juan Francisco is very active with the community’s educative and social promotion projects.
The event attendees included celebrities, clients and executives from Banco Popular.
