Popular inaugurated the remodeled branch office in Villa Mella, a community which counts with two additional client service centers.
Mr. Alejandro Santelises, Executive Vice President of Personal Banking and Branch Offices, indicated that Banco Popular has been servicing the San Juan de la Maguana area for more than 30 years, having opened its first office in February 26, 1972.
The executive banker emphasized during his inaugural speech the institutions positive achievements for the first semester of 2005, according to financial indicators shown in the recently published financial statements for the ending period on June 30, 2005. Mr. Santelises highlighted “the institutions total assets represented an increase accounting for RD$83,577 million, as well as the credit portfolio and total deposits, which amounted for RD$ 35,533 million and RD$ 71,876 million respectively. In addition the bank experienced an important growth in its shareholder’s equity which amounted for a RD$ 8,090 million.”
The institution’s profits for the closing period of the present semester accounted for RD$ 711.5 million, representing a significant increase of RD$ 196 million from last year’s exercise for the same period, according to the budgetary objectives.
During the event, a donation was given to Hogar de Ancianos San Juan, a retirement home in the community. María Valenzuela Hernandez, the institution’s founder and director received the donation on behalf of the establishment.
Furthermore, Mr. Alexis Ortiz, Vice President of the South Region Banking Area, presented information on the ample products and services offered by the bank, as well as a brief summary of Grupo Popular’s subsidiaries.
During the activity, Grupo Popular shareholders Adolfo de los Santos, Felipe Santana Aristy and Francisco Jose Rached Terrero were recognized for having made their first investments more than fifteen years ago.
The event included the participation of Banco Popular executives, local business leaders and bank clients. In addition, the new locale was blessed by father Luis Villegas Londoño, from the local Divina Misericordia parish.
Mr. Daniel Mateo is the office manager, located on Avenida Anacaona No. 49 and opens for clients Monday through Friday, from 8:15 AM to 5:00 PM and includes drive-through autobanco services as well.
