SPECIAL SEMINAR FOR FAMILY ENTERPRISES

Given the fact that a considerable amount of successful Dominican enterprises are owned or controlled by families, Banco Popular financed a seminar oriented to address their needs.

Titled “Managing Your Familiness for a Long-Term Competitive Advantage” this first of three seminars focused on the basic tenets for a successful day-to-day administration.  Future seminars include “Competitive Advantages of Family Enterprises”, and a third and final one on “Entrepreneurial Structure”.  Each of these seminars aims at guaranteeing that trans generational change is used to the businesses’ advantage since this asset plays a major role in securing the long-term prevalence of the institutions.

At the opening, Mr. Manuel A. Grullón, President and CEO of Banco Popular, welcomed the participants and stressed the fact that the bank’s goal is to help family enterprises to develop their competitive and entrepreneurial abilities so they can successfully meet the challenges of growing and maintaining leadership in a context of globalization and perpetual market change.

Mr. Timothy Habbershon, Director and Founder of The Institute of Family Enterprising and Mr. Michael McGrann Associate Director of Telos Consulting Group (both from Babson College, Pennsylvania), acted as facilitators.  The participants were members of first, second and third generations of some twenty of the leading companies in the Dominican Republic.
