AMERICAN CONGRESSMEN VISIT BANCO POPULAR

Manuel A. Grullón, President and CEO of the Banco Popular Dominicano offered a luncheon to a group of representatives from the Congress of the United States who visited the Dominican Republic following an invitation issued by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the Dominican Association of Free Trade Zones (ADOZONA) and the National Council of Free Trade Zones (CNZFE).  

The delegation was chaired by Jerry Weller (Republican), representative from Illinois and integrated by Henry Brown (Republican), representative from South Carolina and a group of collaborators who are giving support to the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the Dominican Republic and the United States.

Bernardo Vega, former ambassador of the Dominican Republic in the United States, and also former Administrator of the Dominican Central Bank (a post similar to that held by Adam Greenspan in the United States), presented an overview of the country’s economic perspectives, especially after the recent signature of an agreement with the International Monetary Fund.

Also present were Sonia Guzmán de Hernández, Secretary of Industry and Commerce, H. E. Hugo Guilliani, ambassador of the Dominican Republic in the United States, executives from different banking organizations, from the Dominican Association of Commercial Banks (ABCRD), from the American Chamber of Commerce, the Free Trade Zone sector and members of Dominican organizations in the United States.
